Advanced Placement Examinations of the College Board (AP exam)

The College awards credit on the basis of scores on the Advanced Placement Examinations of The College Board as indicated below. Scores should be submitted to the Admissions Office as soon as they are available. Six hours credit for scores of 3, 4, or 5 in Spanish. may be used in place of the courses indicated below:


— Spanish Language: Spanish 201 and 202
— Spanish Literature: Spanish 313 and 355

A student who has received AP credit for Spanish 201 and 202 may take the Placement Exam in order to receive credit for Spanish 121-122-123. A score of 338 or higher and completion of a course beyond 202 are required.


College Level Program of the College Board (CLEP exam)

The College awards credit on the basis of the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) administered by The College Board. CLEP examinations may be taken at any national test center, including the University of Louisville Testing Service and testing centers at most colleges and universities during the third week of each month. Prior arrangements with the testing center must be made, and there is a fee for both the general examination and for each subject examination. For more information, contact Testing Services.


Twelve hours credit may awarded for a score of 50 or higher on CLEP subject examination in Spanish . A score of 50 or higher may be used in place of Spanish 121, 122, 123.


International Baccalaureate

The College awards academic credit to entering freshmen who have completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. Credit will be awarded for certain IB Higher Level examinations completed with a core of 5 or higher, up to a maximum of 24 semester hours. A score of 5 or higher may be used in place of the intermediate level of the foreign language. 12 hours credit will be awarded upon successful completion of a 300-level course in the language.
